Civic Holiday
Happy Monday! Today is one of my favourite holidays – it’s part way through the year, it is a lazy day with no special events going on, and a time to truly relax or finish a house project.
I volunteered to tackle the grout – it’s been two years since we first sealed it, so I got down on my knees (with a gardening pad) and embattled myself with a toothbrush and vinegar solution (diluted 1:1 with water and a tsp of baking soda), plus a clean damp cloth for wiping off the solution. Next day, I sealed it. Took a lot less time to do the latter! I’m planning to hire someone to do the kitchen prep area – too many dark spills (coffee, tomato sauce, etc).
Steve sanded the deck and I helped stain it. I went along with a roller while he back brushed. Didn’t take too long to do the planks – again the effort is all in the prep. However, they changed the forcast to blue skies with no rain until Monday, to 40%pop every day. He was so frustrated!
I am also hoping to convince him to go to the Rockton Icecream Festival with me today … he said we’ll see. I’ll let you know how it goes

No ice cream, but we did go out for breakfast on Sunday (2 eggs, 2 pancakes with syrup, 3 pieces of bacon, home fries, a slice of orange and coffee was about 10000 calories; I can’t believe some people do that every weekend!). Today, Rene came to pick up his repaired X-Box and we’ve been invited to my Aunt’s for a BBQ. It was a nice day.
