Sourdough Pancakes
I have been looking forward to this weekend to have pancakes! Here’s the cheater method first:
- 1¼ cups buttermilk pancake mix
- 1 cup Amish starter
- 1 egg
Make per the directions on the box to make 10-11 pancakes, 4″ in diameter.
This is the “made from scratch” recipe. Makes a dozen pancakes.
- 1 ½ cups fresh starter, fairly thick
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbs vegetable oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 Tbs sugar
- 3 Tbs dry milk powder
- Combine all ingredients. Just before baking, stir in 1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 2 tablespoons warm water.
- Pour about ¼ cup batter per pancake onto hot skillet. Turn when pancakes bubble, and bottoms are golden brown. Continue to cook for about 1 min, or until other side is also browned.

Note to self: Oh they were terrible! Way to salty and the soda gave us both stomach pains by the 3rd pancake! Would not make from scratch using this recipe …
