GG’s pecan pie

My parents had me over for an interesting dinner – schnitzel with chocolate pasta covered in Alfredo sauce. It had a strong smell but no distinct taste.

This is my Great-Grandmother’s recipe for pecan pie. Mom makes it a lot of guests and it ALWAYS turns out perfectly:

  • 3 eggs
  • 2/3 c sugar
  • 1c dark corn syrup
  • 1/3 c margarine, melted
  • 1 c pecan halves
  • 9” unbaked pastry shell
  1. Pre-bake pastry shell at 400F for 5 minutes. Set oven to 350F.
  2. Beat eggs with sugar, dash of salt, corn syrup and butter. Add pecans.
  3. Pour into shell and bake for 50 minutes.

Serves 6 (unless you aren’t willing to share with your children and then  you can cut it into 4 pieces when you have guests. Yes she really did that once. So mean!)
